Fall is just a week away! Pumpkins, sweaters, and delicious coffees are definitely on the agenda for many people over the coming weeks. As it turns out, our feline overlords are also planning a few things for the coming months. A local Wheat Ridge, CO vet lists a few things on Fluffy’s to-do list below.
Many people absolutely love decorating for fall, and who can blame them? Pumpkins, candles, and plush pillows make any home look super cozy. Just take care to keep anything that could be dangerous out of the way. That includes toxic plants, chemicals and medication, small or sharp items, candles, anything with wires or cords, plastic bags and wrappers, and candies.
Fall is a peak shedding season. Cats that are allowed to go out will likely shed more than indoor kitties, as they are exposed to that cooling weather, which may trigger that seasonal wardrobe change. Of course, Fluffy’s coat also plays a role in how much she sheds. Help her out by brushing her regularly.
Watching the leaves change can be a little bittersweet for those who don’t much care for winter. However, there’s no denying the fact that fall foliage can be absolutely gorgeous. Fluffy will likely carve out some time to sit near her favorite window and just watch leaves fall. Just make sure to keep that an indoor activity. The Great Outdoors is very dangerous for a curious ball of fur. Cars, weather, chemicals, wild animals, and even stray cats can all threaten your kitty.
No matter what the weather is doing, your sleepy furball will definitely keep up with that busy napping schedule. Cats love warm places, so don’t be surprised if you find your pet sleeping in a basket of warm laundry or curled up near a heating vent. Fluffy may also want to sprawl out in her favorite sunbeam, to catch as many rays as she can.
Did you know that cats sleep even more than usual when it’s cold or dreary out? You may find your kitty wants to snuggle up with you at night. Take some down time on one of those rainy days, and just relax with a good book or movie and your furry little buddy.
